Roto Rooter

Roto Rooter is a large plumbing and drain cleaning service in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. They switched over to Nero Global Tracking in 2007. This was an experiment for the company, and they installed our fleet management system on a portion of their fleet of vehicles. Since then, as Joel Carter, the operations manager at Roto Router in Vancouver says "We cut our gas bills on trucks by 30%. Our fuel savings are pretty much paying for the cost of installing the system." When you add in the value of a more efficient workforce and reduced wear and tear on the vehicles, it becomes a highly profitable decision. That's probably why Carter says his superiors at Roto Router are pushing him to install GPS Tracking on every vehicle in their fleet.

Houle Electric

Houle Electric is one of British Columbia's largest electrical contractors. The company has over 100 vehicles working in four different locations across the British Columbia. Since becoming a Nero Global client, V.P Dennis Carlow has noticed a huge drop in fuel consumption in their fleets. As he says, "that's a benefit of better tracking and organization on our part." But he believes it's also a product of getting their drivers to slow down. The fact is that every one KPH over the speed limit translates into a 1% increase in fuel consumption. As he says, "Our drivers stop speeding when they realize their dispatchers will know if they do." These things have added up to major fuel savings for the company. In fact, since Houle installed our GPS Tracking, they have increased their fleet size by 20%, but their fuel costs have remained the same.

British Columbia School District 23

Nero Global Tracking is starting to prove its worth in BC's school districts, too. School District 23 in Kelowna has been the first to install it on their fleet of over 50 units. As Director of Operations Alan Cumbers says, "It's doing everything it was advertised to do. It's simple to use and requires a low amount of training." The system has only been installed at S.D. 23 for a few months now. Nevertheless, Operations Manager Grant Davidson agrees with his boss. "Our GPS Tracking System is very simple to use and understand." He adds, "We know what our staff are doing now, and we can see how much it will do as we become more comfortable with it. There is value here."

GPS Fleet Management Is The Way Of The Future.

Fleet tracking and management is relatively new and not well known in British Columbia and Western Canada. However it is how smart businesses are managing their fleets and assets around the world. Here are a couple of examples of companies that are successfully integrating GPS fleet management into their businesses in other parts of the world"

Security Company - California

This firm has the largest patrol fleet operating in California's Santa Clarita Valley. With over 80 team members and 13 vehicles, the company must operate 24/7 to provide security to its customers. They needed to manage their drivers more efficiently, and monitor the productivity and effectiveness of their workforce. However, they also needed a way to be able to prove to customers that they were running their patrols when they claimed. By switching to a GPS management system, they accomplished all their goals. They are purchasing additional units as they expand their vehicle fleet.

Raising Fleet Management Standards

At The Bottom Of The World GPS fleet management has proved its worth as far away as New Zealand. This privately owned bulk haulage firm had with over 70 vehicles and 140 staff. They drive almost 9 million kilometers a year. They realized that up-to-the-minute information is the key to efficient fleet management. They wanted to know where each of their trucks were so they could make better decisions about who was best placed to do a particular job. They also wanted to better monitor driver performance. They realized that a GPS-based system was the only way to get information that was as current as they needed. With the introduction of a new GPS system, they have seen demonstrable productivity gains. They are also able to support their drivers in the case of incorrect complaints about speeding. And lastly, the company discovered their trucks were spending a long time idling, increasing fuel consumption and also adding to engine wear and tear. Drivers are now more sensitive about this, helping to reduce resulting costs.

Costs Cut In Maryland,USA

An Electric & Power cooperative on the coast of Maryland truly knows the customer really is the boss. They wanted to provide better, more timely and more reliable service from the 173 vehicles they have on the road. When electricity is out, people want service fast. In order to be there when members needed and expected them, the coop wanted to know more about where vehicles were during the course of the day resulting in ease of dispatch and operations. After looking at a number of different options, they realized that a GPS-based management system was the most efficient and user-friendly way to proceed. Once it was installed, they began to see an immediate improvement in their ability to provide more timely service and information to coop members. The Co-op now knows where servicemen are all time and can more accurately estimate when they will be able to get to a certain customer. Moving to their GPS-based fleet management system has given them a huge leg up in customer service and operational efficiencies.
